THIS BLOG is NOW RETIRED

I began this blog in May 2009 following the death of Marcia Powell at Perryville State Prison in Goodyear, Arizona. It is not intended to prescribe the path that leads to freedom from the prison industrial complex.

Rather, these are just my observations in arguably the most racist, fascist, militaristic state in the nation at a critical time in history for a number of intersecting liberation movements. From Indigenous resistance to genocidal practices, to the fight over laws like SB1070 and the ban on Ethnic Studies, Arizona is at the center of many battles for human rights, and thus the struggle for prison abolition as well - for none are free until all are. I retired the blog in APRIL 2013.

Please read this important information below about Mumia‘s case from Hans Bennett

The supreme court decision on the case Mumia Abu-Jamal could be announced as soon as Tuesday, Jan 19. The only two possible responses are 1. Life in prison 2. Re-instating the execution orders. Philly folks can meet with Pam Africa & ICFFMAJ at 7pm Monday, Jan 18 at the A-Space 4722 Baltimore Ave to plan an emergency response. Folks outside of Philly are encouraged to plan day of and day after announcement events in their communities

There is a Mumia support meeting at 7pm on Monday, Jan 18 at the A-Space 4722 Baltimore Ave in West Philly to here report backs from Pam Africa of ICFFMAJ and to plan next steps to respond to the supreme court decision.

There will be day of and day after actions in Philadelphia when the supreme court decision is announced, and ICFFMAJ is encouraging folks to plan response actions in their own communities if they cannot travel to Philly.
